A Product Manager in a pharmaceutical company plays a critical role in managing a drug or product’s lifecycle—from development to market success—while aligning medical, regulatory, and commercial goals.
Core Responsibilities1. Product Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute product strategies for assigned drugs or therapeutic categories
- Conduct market research to identify unmet medical needs and opportunities
- Define product positioning, value proposition, and target audience
2. Market Research & Analysis
- Analyze competitors, pricing, and market trends
- Gather insights from doctors, patients, and healthcare professionals
- Monitor prescription trends and product performance
3. Product Launch & Lifecycle Management
- Plan and execute product launches (new drugs or new indications)
- Manage the entire lifecycle: introduction, growth, maturity, and decline
- Forecast sales and demand
4. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
Work closely with:
- Medical affairs (for scientific accuracy)
- Regulatory teams (to ensure compliance with drug laws)
- Sales teams (for field execution)
- Marketing teams (for campaigns and branding)
5. Marketing & Promotion
- Design promotional campaigns for doctors and healthcare professionals
- Develop marketing materials (brochures, visual aids, digital content)
- Organize conferences, CMEs (Continuing Medical Education), and product training
6. Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure all marketing and communication complies with healthcare regulations
- Work with regulatory bodies to get approvals for product claims and materials
7. Sales Support & Training
- Train sales representatives on product knowledge and positioning
- Provide tools and strategies to improve field performance
8. Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Track KPIs such as sales growth, market share, and ROI
- Prepare reports and present insights to senior management
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations

Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or Medicine
