About The Role

We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role is pivotal in developing datasets that enable LLMs to effectively address realistic software engineering problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality public GitHub repositories, contributing to the automation of development environments, and assessing code quality. You will play a crucial role in analyzing open-source projects, triaging issues, and evaluating test coverage to support our innovative research initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to lead technical efforts, collaborate with researchers, and influence the future of AI-assisted software development.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of comprehensive experience in software engineering, with a demonstrated ability to work with complex codebases. Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Ruby is essential, along with strong skills in Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup. Experience in navigating, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally is required. Familiarity with open-source contributions, either through participation or evaluation, is considered a plus. Additionally, candidates should have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or lead a team of junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and triage issues from GitHub repositories across trending open-source projects to identify areas for evaluation and improvement.
• Set up, configure, and automate development environments, including Dockerization and environment management.
• Assess and improve unit test coverage and overall code quality to ensure robustness and reliability.
• Modify and run codebases locally to evaluate the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
• Collaborate closely with research teams to identify repositories and issues that present challenges for LLMs, aiding in dataset expansion and validation.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering teamwork and technical excellence in project execution.
