Requirements:

• 6+ years professional experience in user experience design with a user interface (UI) design specialism
• A portfolio of design work/case studies demonstrating success leading the design of design systems and languages
• Proven success implementing design processes and workflows which support design system adoption and contribution
• Design leadership excellence at all levels
• Experience evolving brand identity for digital products
• Strong storytelling skills in communicating to stakeholders
• Strong practice of user-centred design methodologies including conducting user research, usability testing, and incorporating user feedback into the design process
• Ability to articulate design decisions and strategies to both design and non-design stakeholders
• Ability to link design outcomes to business goals and company strategy
• Experience enabling iterative design throughout an agile development process
• Experience in bridging communication gaps between design and other departments
• Familiarity with industry-standard design tools and technologies such as Figma, Miro, Storybook, GitHub/GitLab
• Ideally a degree in UX Design, Product Design, Human-Centred Design, Graphic Design, Communication Design or a related field

Responsibilities:

• Directly contribute to the company mission by delivering design system foundations that help product design and engineering teams consistently and efficiently deliver amazing customer experiences
• Lead the definition and maintenance of the design system including principles, patterns, components, guidelines, and operational processes to ensure high-quality, consistent user experience
• Promote consistency and efficiency by collaborating closely with designers to deliver high-quality design assets ensuring usability, visual excellence, accessibility, and optimization
• Work directly with product design, research and engineering teams to apply, evolve, and maintain the Design System
• Define and refine design workflows between the design system team and the wider community of product designers, recommending methodologies and best practices to ensure efficiency and consistency
• Provide documentation and guidelines for designers to follow
• Facilitate communication and collaboration between design system design, product design, engineering, product management, and brand, aligning on goals, priorities, and timelines
• Oversee the quality of design deliverables produced by the team through design quality assurance, conducting regular design reviews and providing constructive feedback to designers
• Establish and enforce governance policies for the design system, including version control, naming conventions, and design component documentation to ensure consistency and scalability
• Evaluate, implement, and maintain design tools and systems that enhance productivity and collaboration within the team
• Continuously evaluate and optimize the design process and workflows to increase efficiency and effectiveness
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to ensure alignment on design goals and priorities
• Promote the adoption of the design system across the organisation through training, workshops, and evangelism efforts
• Communicate updates, changes, and enhancements to stakeholders through presentations, documentation updates, and other channels
